About Michael


Michael is an experienced litigator who has handled hundreds of professional negligence and catastrophic injury cases, including wrongful death.  After practicing as a civil defense attorney for 15 years, Michael formed Jacobs Wilson Callahan, PC with his dear friends Joshua and Erik.  His experience in defending cases offers key insight into how best to prosecute those same claims and obtain the best results he can for his clients.

Michael has extensive experience litigating a wide variety of matters through trial.  His practice areas include: personal injury and wrongful death, catastrophic injury, medical malpractice, premises liability, products liability, elder abuse, claims against nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and professional malpractice.

Michael is the proud father of son Maximus and daughter Naomi.  He is the loving husband of Elizabeth Jacobs.  His free time is occupied by spending time with his family and, when possible, watching Blazers and Gonzaga basketball, traveling to his hometown in Alaska, or fishing with his friends.

  • Argued pending recreational immunity case before the Oregon Court of Appeals: Murphy v. City of Cannon Beach, Court of Appeals No. A181744.
  • Argued premises liability case before the Oregon Court of Appeals: Johnson v. Mullen, 331 Or App 128 (2024).
  • Tried $20 million+ lawsuit involving wrongful death claim.
  • Tried $3 million+ lawsuit involving allegations of defective design, maintenance, and construction of a bridge and involving claims of negligence and pursuant to Oregon’s Employer Liability Law.
  • Tried $3.5 million lawsuit arising out of a construction project and relating to claims of fraudulent non-disclosure, breach of contract, and breach of implied warranty, and contribution.
  • Assisted with trial of $40 million+ lawsuit involving allegations and claims against OB/GYN for failure to diagnose pre-birth conditions that gave rise to neonatal encephalopathy.
  • Obtained six-figure resolution in products liability claim on behalf of minor client.
  • Obtained six-figure resolution in motor vehicle accident case.
  • Obtained resolution for $85,000 in settlement payments in motor vehicle accident case.
  • Obtained numerous policy limits payments in motor vehicle accident cases.
  • Obtained summary judgment and attorney fee awards in numerous six-figure and seven-figure damages cases.
